Yer team has some really formidable sticks. If, by chance, we should happen to run into each other down the road, I'm hoping our really good arms will have something to say about the outcome. . .

Bijoux - Not so much a long drought, just that the first 90% of this season was excruciating. . .

Skip - Yeah, it was my understanding that there are A's fans and Giants fans, and ne'er the twain shall meet. Tho I'm sure there's a certain set of folks who'd like to have the series be an all-Bay-Area affair. But, you know, just think about the last time that happened. . .

I'd love to see yer Giants in the Series. It's funny, actually - the Tigers have played in ten World Series, and seven of 'em have been against either the Cubs(4) or the Cardinals(3). . .

What the A's have done the second half of the season is simply incredible, and I take my hat off to them. And it's no fun having to be the ones to send the cute-story-of-the-year packing. I'm hoping that those rookie pitchers come to their senses and realize that they're only rookies, starting, oh, say, tomorrow. . .

And, what is this 'Big Blue' of which you speak? I know only Green. . .

Lime - It has been, um, perplexing how much the Triple Crown has seemed to fly under the national radar. But, to be candid, it's mainly that he's just been consistent all season long, and picked up the pace at the end of the season. He hasn't been as subject to extended dry spells as others. It's only in the last month or so that he took the lead in batting average, and he didn't lead in homers until the last week. Also, there have been several 'close-but-no-cigar' stories in the past 45 years. So maybe it kinda snuck up on people. . .Craighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12044041773404411751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449788532742031864.post-36233549529668082482012-10-05T13:20:26.888-04:002012-10-05T13:20:26.888-04:00my husband was ranting that rather than covering m...my husband was ranting that rather than covering mr cabrera adequately the baseball news was taken up with teddy roosevelt winning the footrace at the nats stadium for the first time ever.

congrats to the triple crown winner. it's an impressive accomplishment.limehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17259558876349307173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449788532742031864.post-716036482322687242012-10-05T12:27:35.693-04:002012-10-05T12:27:35.693-04:00If I wasn't so into the Giants I'd probabl...If I wasn't so into the Giants I'd probably be really pushing for the A's... even though the other half and her brothers are Detroiters. The irony is that now that college football has taken hold, they (the brothers) are more into Big Blue than baseball. Personally, I don't care which American League team makes the series as long as they are playing the Giants.
Speaking of the A's, it was pretty fantastic what they've done since the end of June, particularly since a number of their players are relative newcomers to the major leagues.
