Thanks.

Cocotte - Funny - I was just thinking of Herb Score this morning (really!). Not Herb Score the broadcaster; Herb Score the pitcher, who might've been one of the all-time greats if he hadn't gotten hit in the face with a line drive. And I probably only know that about him because of Ernie Harwell. . .

Suldog - Thanks to the Red Sox; that's class.

And, following up on Cocotte's comment above, along with Herb Score, I was thinking about Tony Conigliaro, who might also have been one of the all-time greats if he hadn't gotten beaned. . .

Lime - Thanks. I'm frankly surprised at my own emotional response to Ernie's passing; my eyes have been welling up at random, ever since I heard of it. I will honestly miss him, on a deep level; in some indescribable way, the world has been a better place for having him in it. . .Craighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16389193386974951036noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449788532742031864.post-61480244423628163562010-05-06T10:05:20.117-04:002010-05-06T10:05:20.117-04:00what a marvelous remembrance. thanks for sharing ...what a marvelous remembrance. thanks for sharing your memories of ernie and the influence he had. may he rest in peace.limehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17259558876349307173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449788532742031864.post-37195009696174494502010-05-06T09:25:06.603-04:002010-05-06T09:25:06.603-04:00I was at the Red Sox game last night, and they had...I was at the Red Sox game last night, and they had a moment of silence for Ernie Harwell prior to the game.Suldoghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07778845367184916684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449788532742031864.post-36854362023475606772010-05-06T07:24:56.589-04:002010-05-06T07:24:56.589-04:00This reminds me of our Herb Score. I've often thought of writing about them, but wasn't sure I could capture in words what their voices meant to me. That you've done so, so well, concerning Ernie Harwell, gives me renewed hope of doing so myself, with the radio and TV voices of my times, perhaps in the not-too-distant future.

You've written a love letter here, and a damn fine one. I hope it somehow finds its way into the hands of Mr. Harwell's relatives. They deserve to see it, and you deserve to have it seen.Suldoghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07778845367184916684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449788532742031864.post-26648511733711741052010-05-05T12:29:26.685-04:002010-05-05T12:29:26.685-04:00Just in case anyone is interested, a couple more v...Just in case anyone is interested, a couple more very fitting tributes, from Mitch Albom and Jerry Green. . .Craighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12044041773404411751noreply@blogger.com
